The DRG Records website has this to say about Eartha Kitt - Live from the Cafe Carlyle .

Legendary stage and screen star Eartha Kitt's gig at the Café Carlyle in Manhattan was recorded live on June 30th in a performance the New York Times calls “Indestructibly Seductive”.

Description: In addition to her signature hits "C'est Si Bon" and "La Vie En Rose" the recording features marvelous Kitt-ish renditions of timeless standards including a growling version of "Ain't Misbehavin", a guttural Japanese take of "Come On-A My House", the Philippine song "Waray Waray" which Miss Kitt sings in Tagalog and an optimistic infused version of "It Was A Very Good Year" a refreshing take on Sinatra's often melancholy treatment. In edition to her extraordinary performance, the recording captures delightful banter and anecdotes which demonstrate a confidence and wit rarely displayed by her peers in this or any genre.

EARTHA KITT is an international star that gives new meaning to the word versatile. She has distinguished herself in film, theater, cabaret, music and on television. Miss Kitt is one of only a handful of performers to be nominated for a Tony (three times), the Grammy (twice), and an Emmy Award.

A personal note on this CD release. I can't tell you how happy I am to have Eartha's version of September Song/ It Was A Very Good Year finally recorded! It is a classic Eartha rendition not to be missed. I only wish it was DVD release so the twinkle in her eye when she sings "When I was 35, it was a very good year. A very good year for younger men, who looked good in jeans. We would drive around in Limousines, my chauffeur would drive..." Now if we could only get her to record her versions of "Speaking of Love" and "Voice Full of Yes ".
